Therapy Dog Program

We understand the comforting powers that dogs can have in our lives. They know when we are happy, and they know when we need their unconditional love and empathy. During times of grief, a dog’s gentle presence can soothe us, bringing calm and comfort at a very difficult time. We want to provide that level of support to the families we serve. This is why launched a Therapy Dog Program at several of our funeral homes including Pine Hills Funeral Centre, York Funeral Centre, Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, the Simple Alternative Pickering and Thornton Funeral Centre.

The program consists of a team of volunteer therapy dogs and their owners, certified to meet Mount Pleasant Group’s specific needs.

Our customers and their guests are notified when therapy dogs are on site. If families desire, the dogs can be present during their visitation and funeral service or walk around with the assistance of the pet handlers in a more public setting.

This program is the first of its kind in Ontario.
