Born in 1917, John Juniper lived all his life in the house his father had designed, built and moved several hundred metres north to its present location at the end of Rowntree Avenue. Their home was the first in the neighbourhood to have electricity. His mother was an enterprising woman who organized several paper routes in the district. John was employed during his teens at local firms such as Dominion Corrugated. The family was involved with the West Toronto Citadel of the Salvation Army. A keen railway buff, John Juniper was an outspoken advocate for rail safety. He retained strong ties to his neighbourhood throughout his life. He died in September, 1988 at the age of 71.
