Robert Dack

Plot F, Section 5, Lot 9
Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto

In the early 1800s Irish cobbler Matthew Dack immigrated to Canada. He eventually moved to the young city of Toronto and in 1836 opened a shoe store at 71 King Street West. The business remained in the family for more than a century. Buried here is Robert Dack, who operated the company as R. Dack and Son, and who died at his residence, 45 Teddington Park Avenue on October 31, 1932 at the age of 83. The “son” part of the title, Robert Grosvenor Dack is also buried here. He was only 32 when he died on March 31, 1915.
