HPCO and MPG Introduce the Mount Pleasant Group Equity in Action Award
As part of its continued partnership with Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO), the Mount Pleasant Group (MPG) is pleased to support the Mount Pleasant Group Equity in Action Award—an initiative that aims to shine a light on the vital work being done to promote greater access to hospice palliative care for equity-deserving communities across Ontario. These communities may include, but are not limited to, BIPOC populations, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, those living with dementia and people experiencing homelessness.
For MPG, supporting greater access to high-quality hospice care for all is an extension of the company’s broader commitment to helping families and individuals navigate the many challenges associated with the end of life, both before and after a death occurs.
"We are thrilled to introduce the Mount Pleasant Group Equity in Action Award," said Rick Firth, President and CEO of HPCO. “This award celebrates the dedication and innovation of organizations that are working to ensure that folks from equity-deserving communities have access to high-quality hospice care. We believe that by highlighting the achievements of organizations that are already making a significant impact, we can inspire others to strive for greater equity and excellence in hospice care."
"We believe in a future where everyone has access to the high-quality end-of-life care they need, no matter their community, identity or what their lived experience might be," said John Monahan, President and CEO of MPG. "Through our partnership with HPCO, we are proud to recognize and support those working tirelessly to make these vital services more accessible to communities across the province."
This is the second award MPG supports in collaboration with HPCO. In 2019, the Mount Pleasant Group Hospice Innovation Award was established to celebrate innovative solutions and care delivery by community-based hospices across Ontario. Together, these two awards represent a broad commitment to enhancing hospice palliative care services for everyone.
Nominations for the Mount Pleasant Group Equity in Action Award are open until January 31, 2024 at 5:00 pm. Any HPCO member hospice can either nominate or be nominated for work that is currently being done to break down barriers faced by equity-deserving groups in accessing hospice palliative care.
